No Makeup Challenge

Yes, you read that correctly! I challenge thee to a week with no makeup. Suggesting going one day without makeup for most women is enough to send shivers down the spine. Challenging them to go without makeup for an entire week is no less than terrifying for many, yet this is precisely what I am asking all of you to do.

So why this sudden burst of madness? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE makeup. When I was younger I aspired to be a makeup artist and stocked up on several professional makeup kits and brushes. My parents would let me go to school with bright blue eye shadow and dark eyeliner on because they know how important is is to express yourself. (Although I wish they would have told me we weren’t in the 80’s anymore!)

As I matured into a young adult, I slowly started to realize that “less is more.” Seeing all of these advertisements on TV and magazines made me realize how unnatural everything is. I feel as though our society preys on our weakness and insecurities about ourselves to make us feel like we NEED to go buy that new foundation or eye shadow palette. I’m not saying that we all need to go clean out our cabinets and toss all our makeup out, but I’m just trying to put things in perspective. I love the creativity makeup brings to this world, but I fear that it has created this illusion that women are only beautiful with layers and layers of coverup, foundation, and contour powder.

So I want to challenge thee to a week with no makeup! I’m not telling you to go on strike, but I just want to remind you that you are just as beautiful without makeup on. Don’t feel ashamed to be in public with no makeup on. Honestly, no one is going to think any less of you. Feel empowered to show off your natural beauty to the world!

I hope you will all join me in this No Makeup Challenge! If you feel inspired, please like this post amd share with your friends!

Stay beautiful.

  1. I love this “sudden burst of madness” 😉 In this day and age, it seems impossible for a girl to leave the house without doing at least her eyebrows and lashes! It’d be so nice to go natural for a week–kind of a physical and even emotional cleanse 🙂

    1. Yes I totally agree!! I stopped wearing makeup a few months ago and have gained so much confidence and respect for myself. I feel that more girl’s should do this challenge and to not be scared to show off their natural beauty!

      1. It’s wonderful to know that your friends are still your friends and your family is still your family whether or not you’re done up or all natural 🙂 but going natural takes much less time and energy 🙂
